At times the demend for Nathula permit goes to 700 vehicle where as the permit issued is only 60 for civil and 40 for government.

Nathula is closed on Monday and Tuesday for tourist.

Nathula can be guaranteed if you have contacts in the army or if you are governtment employee. kindly use your soures so that the permit coluld be procured. THE modus operandi for this would be that you would be requaing the car number and driver licence a day prior to the journey date. Incase you take the number and driver detailes in Advance and god Forbid Due to whatsover reason if the driver and the vehical any one of two is not able to report then your whole exercise of getting the permit done gets futile. while coordinating this with the army or other source, please requst the source to do both the army and the torisum permission, this saves a lot of time.

Worse to Worse if all above goes in vain please do not Get Disheartened as you will only miss 4 Kilometers Drive as the visit to thangu lake and Baba mandir takes you into the area where nathula is Located.

Nathula(14140 Feet, 4310 Meter , 20 Kilometre in 1 Hours one way from Tshangu Lake) Baba Mandir (13100 Feet, 3994 Metre , 16 Kilometer in 1 Hours one way from Tshangu Lake) is an Indo China border, controlled by the Indian Army and is situated approx 20 Kilometres ahead of Tshangu Lake at an height of 14140 Feet, 4310. Kalimpong town itself is small, located about 2.5 hours drive from both Darjeeling and Siliguri. But the town and its surrounding areas offer immense opportunities for tourism. Kalim in local dialect means King is Minister and Pong means Stronghold. So the name Kalimpong actually means Stronghold of Kings Minister and has originated from the time of kings dynasty in the region. Some say that the name has been derived from the word Kalibong (locals call it Kaulim). It is a type of fiber plant used for making paper. This plant is found in abundance in Kalimpong.

Morning After Breakfast Transfer for Kalimpong (4091 Feet / 1247 Meters). On Arrival Check in at Hotel. Evening at Leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 6 : Kalimpong - Darjeeling ( 70 Kilometers / 04 Hours)

Darjeeling: The name Darjeeling is a composition of dorje meaning thunderbolt and ling meaning place ... the Land of Thunderbolt. The Nepalese had marched till the east of Sikkim in 1780 as far as Tista river. Due to a disagreement with Nepal, the British declared war against Nepal at the end of 1813. In 1816 by a treaty signed at Seagoulie, Nepal ceded 4000 sq. miles of territory and by the treaty of Titalya in 1817 the Rajah (king) of Sikkim was reinstated. In 1828 two British officers, Capt. C. A. Lloyd and Mr. J. W. Grant, after settling the internal factions between Nepal and Sikkim, found their way to a place called Chungtong to the west of Darjeeling and were very impressed with what they saw and thought of making this place a sanitarium. Other British officers also reported favourably on the situation of the hill of Darjeeling.
